Pahau Downs Sheep and Beef Station

Culverden, North Canterbury, New Zealand

A large proportion of the Pahau Downs farm was cleared after the second world war by the then owner on his return from Europe. The ex tank driver spent his time clearing the hill country with his bull-dozer and in the process a number of bulldozers were written off. Luckily for him he survived these incidents and lived to a grand old age.

The farm was then sold in the early seventies, when the farm buildings were extended to hold the extra stock numbers. Also a purpose built workshop was erected to deal with the vehicle maintenance.

The farm was purchased by the present owner in 2000 and since then the farm has had a program of development with a lot of work put in on renewing the pastures to be able to increase the stock numbers.

Additionally a water scheme has been put in place over the last few years to enable some paddocks to be productive grazing land even in the drier months.

Farm tours are available along with self contained farmstay accommodation.
